Postal Events

Postal events are swimming competitions that are conducted at your local pool with the results sent to the event host for tabulating. At this level you would be competing with all swimmers of your gender and age group from across the country. This is a great way of competing without leaving home. Annual postal events that are organized by USMS include:

  • One Hour Swim, swam in a short course pool during the month of January
  • 5K/10K Postal Championships, swam in a 50 meter pool anytime from May 15-September 15
  • 3000/6000 Postal Championships, swam in a 25 yard pool anytime from September 15 and October 15
  • Other postal events include the February Fitness Challenge hosted by the Tullatin Hills Barracudas of Oregon. This event requires participants to record their yardage/meters for the month of February.
  • The USMS Fitness Committee also sponsor three events each year, including the Check-off Challenge, the 30-Minute Swim Challenge, and the Virtual Geographic Swim Series. Learn more about these events at the Fitness section of the USMS Web site.

Check for entry forms in the Splashmaster newsletter, USMS Swimmer magazine, and online at the USMS Web site under the Long Distance section.
